From Blagoevgrad to Rila Monastery, the long and winding road

From Blagoevgrad the road to Rila Monastery changes to a narrow winding road along the side of a mountain. We arrived during the Annual Road Mender’s Convention and had to stop every 1/2 mile along the 8 mile journey because they were digging up, filling in, standing around in groups looking at holes in the road etc etc. sometimes they controlled the traffic flow (reduced to one lane for traffic in both directions) and sometimes they send to miss the whole concept of controlling traffic. But we eventually made it to the (no photographs inside) monastery in late afternoon.
