The seafront restaurants and resident cats are too varied and numerous to mention but they share one thing in common: food.
The restaurants serve excellent food, particularly fresh seafood, and the cats patrol singularly & relentlessly up and down between restaurants looking, and pleading, for scraps.
Waiters refer to them as neighbourhood cats and many diners drop scraps under the table, furtively at first, then more openly.
I’ve found they’re not too keen on french fries, bread is so-so, but any kind of seafood gets them really excited. As much, that is, as you can detect anything approaching excitement in a cat.
